Sandboxes
Kid in sandbox might be the title of a nostalgic painting depicting an idyllic summer pastime enjoyed by countless children over the years. The old fashioned sandboxes of childhood were simple affairs dad nailed together in a square about 4' on a side and about 12" high, or whatever the dimensions of the scrap lumber happened to be. For ease of construction, an old tractor tire was ideal; no assembly required.. Kids in the sandbox played with simple sandbox toys, usually plastic pails, small shovels, the occasional teaspoon from the kitchen, and regular toys pressed into sand box service
Fewer sand boxes are being constructed by handyman fathers these days, but parents still enjoy seeing kids in the sand box playing in the shade and want to give their children the same sandbox memories they themselves treasure, so, to fill the continuing need for sandboxes, retailers and online sellers offer many different variations of the basic sandbox. Plastic sandboxes offer durability, ease of maintenance, and come in many various shapes and sizes. Maxi sandboxes feature a sheltering, vinyl roof canopy, which can be lowered to cover the sand box when not in use.
Kids in the sandbox aren’t limited to the simple sand box toys of yesteryear. Along with the endless variety of sandboxes for children are toys created just for playing in the sand; toys which, since they are made for playing in the sand, can also be used on outings to the beach. Some of the special sandbox toys are uniquely shaped pails designed for making sand castles, and a sand/water wheel is an interesting addition to the dozens of sandbox toys available to the kid in the sandbox
While fashions come and go, in sandboxes as well as everything else, the basic sandbox experience has changed very little over the years Sifting sand through your fingers, feeling cool sand between your wiggling toes, building beautiful sand castles, and shoveling sand into brightly colored plastic pails will remain some of the most treasured childhood memories for generations of kids in the sandbox. And for just as many generations of parents, watching children playing in a sandbox will bring back many lovely memories as well as make many new ones.
